Ur III Tablets from the Columbia University Tablets (CUSAS 16)
The Columbia University tablet collection has been known for over a century but only a handful of tablets has ever been published. Some years ago the entire collection was copied by Herbert Sauren but his copies never published. Thanks to David I. Owen, who obtained the original copies from Sauren and who encouraged both Steven Garfinkle and Marc Van de Mieroop to prepare an edition of these interesting, mostly Ur III, texts the collection is now available for study. The volume contains complete transliterations with accompanying in-text copies by Sauren, along with full transliterations and comprehensive indexes by Garfinkle and Ven de Mieroop. The tablets relate directly to the extensive archives from Drehem and Umma and add a significant body of new data to these well known archives. The publication is particularly useful to those interested in the history and culture of late, third-millennium Mesopotamia.
